Learn How to Customize Mikogo for Your Use Case

checked

The Mikogo software is used for several different use cases – meetings, presentations, trainings, support, etc. – which is why we built the Profile Manager. This advanced feature allows you to remove or add features from the software and hence create different “profiles” for different use cases. Now you can create a “meeting profile” with your favorite meeting features and a “support profile” with the best remote support settings.
The best part – it’s so easy! There are no complicated configurationsor tech skills required. It’s just a matter of ticking/unticking some checkboxes. Here is how you do it:

Customizing the Mikogo Software

Mikogo Profile Manager

To the right you can see a screenshot of how I made my “Remote Support” profile.

As you can see I have removed all the features I don’t need for remote support (e.g. whiteboard) and most importantly I have selected “View & Control” as the initial viewing setting.

That’s just what I did under the “Features” tab. Under “Preferences” I can also change the picture quality and application selection settings.

Done – I’ve saved this and now I have my remote support profile ready to go the next time I start a session. It really only takes a minute to create and save a new profile.

I’ll use this profile to start a session any time I want to remotely support someone. To do this I go to “Start Session” as usual and then select my new profile via the drop-down menu, shown below:

Start new profile

By now you’re probably thinking of a couple of profiles you can make for your Mikogo sessions: “I need the recording in my online trainings, but I never use the chat in my meetings…”

Create a New Mikogo Profile

Before I wrap this blog post up, I need to show you where you can do this in the software:

  1. To begin with, enter your Mikogo account details in the software under “Account Information”. You need an account because the Profile Manager is account-based and that is where your profiles are saved. Sign up for a free account if you don’t have one already.
  2. Next, open up your Profile Manager profile manager button and click on the Add button button found at the bottom of the software panel.
  3. That’s it. You’re now in the profile manager and you can tweak the software to your heart’s content.

Just remember to save your profile and you’re good to go! You’ll find further info about the Profile Manager in the user guides.

Discussion: who has been using the profile manager? For which use case(s) have you created profiles? Please leave a comment below and it would be great if you can quickly detail the setup e.g. “My presentation profile has recording but no chat…” I’m sure other Mikogo users will be interested in how you get the most out of the software – thanks a lot!
