The news comes shortly after the successful release of Mikogo’s first Mac Beta version a month ago, and complements Mikogo’s version for PC computers.

Both Mikogo’s PC and Mac versions provide an easy-to-use web conferencing solution that allows any private user or company to organize an online meeting with up to 10 participants. Following today’s release, Mikogo users have a multi-purpose cross-platform application for online meetings as well as remote support, and all at no cost.

“Since last month’s Beta version, Mac users have been picking up our software for online meetings, web conferencing and screen sharing,” explains Erik Boos, Co-Founder of Mikogo. “Now with the new remote control feature, companies have an all-in-one software application that allows them to not only make Web presentations and conferences but also assist clients via remote support.”

Successful Mac Release Leads Mikogo to Preview Further Features
Mannheim, GERMANY March 24, 2009 – Following the successful release of its debut Mac software version less than two weeks ago, Mikogo is wasting no time announcing that greater cross-platform capability is already on its way. Mikogo has announced that a remote control feature is to be included in its next soon-to-be-released Mac Beta version, providing a combined remote support and online meeting tool at no cost.

While some competitor products may boast screen sharing for meetings and other’s for remote support, they will struggle to match Mikogo’s offer. The next version of the Mikogo Mac version will bring the best of both world’s together branding Mikogo as a cross-platform software application that is armed to the teeth with valuable features, and available at no cost for commercial and private use.

By employing the new Mikogo Mac Beta version, both Mac and PC users will be able to organize screen sharing sessions for the purposes of online meetings, Web presentations, Web demos, e-learning, and importantly, remote support.

“With the new Mac version, businesses have a tool that enables their sales department to conduct product demos, while their service department can support clients remotely, regardless of whether the involved parties are on a Mac or PC computer,” explains Mark Zondler, Co-Founder of Mikogo.

The talk of such a complete cross-platform desktop sharing solution, comes shortly after the successful release of the Mikogo Mac Beta version on the 11th March 2009. The release was met with great enthusiasm from Mac and PC users across the planet, with Mikogo appearing on countless of personal and professional blogs, news sites, as well as notable tech Web publications including VentureBeat, Macworld, PCWorld, PCMag, TMCnet and MakeUseOf.

The combination of Mikogo’s current features and cross-platform capability with that of remote control, is expected to appeal to a wide audience of both Mac and PC business users, and will result in the long neck of the Mikogo giraffe towering above the crowd.

Well, here it is: the Mikogo Mac Beta version! You’ve no doubt read about this via my email yesterday, or blog post the day before, or perhaps a friend/colleague of yours let you in on the goss. Whatever the reason, I imagine you are here because you are keen to test the Mikogo Mac Beta version and contact us with your feedback.

A few things to note:

The client is cross platform, so that both Mac and PC users can start meetings, and invite both Mac and PC users to participate. I.e. Windows participants can join a meeting started by a Mac user. This means a few different downloads:

Mac Download: There is just one download to both start and join meetings with a Mac.
Mikogo Mac Client (.dmg)

Windows Download:
Mikogo Organizer – this is needed to start meetings
Mikogo Participant – this is needed to join meetings. (just download, not an install)

There are no passwords required to receive the above files – simply download them.

Once you have downloaded the Mikogo Mac client, you can start meetings by using your current Mikogo username and password. For those beta testers who are new to Mikogo, you can register for a free Mikogo account here. Please note, that only the meeting organizer needs account details. Participants do not need to register in order to join.

Getting Mikogo Started on the Mac
For details and screenshots on getting Mikogo started on the Mac, please take a look at the Mikogo Mac webpage.

Beta Feedback
As mentioned Mikogo is now cross platform. Ideally it would be great to receive beta feedback from a range of different scenarios (if it is possible). e.g. Mac/PC as organizer and Mac/PC as participant.

Once you have tested the Mikogo Mac Beta version and you wish to send us your feedback, please take note of the following:
1. all feedback should be sent to mac(at)mikogo.com
2. Please include your hardware and software specifications
3. If you find a problem/bug, please help us by providing a detailed description, ideally with screenshots and with steps on how this may be reproduced.

Please understand that we require the above points to ensure that we can quickly identify problems, fix them, and then officially finalize the Mac version for everyone.

Features Available in Mikogo Mac version

We are pleased to announce that we will be releasing a native Mac client of the Mikogo software. This will be an exciting release as it means that Mikogo will be cross platform allowing Mac users to organize, present and participate in Mikogo free online meetings. But before we officially release the Mac version, we are calling out to the Mikogo Community and to the Mac Community for some beta testers.

The beta version will be made available shortly in a closed beta test and will be cross platform, so that Mac users can start meetings, and invite both Mac and PC users to participate. Vice versa, PC users will be able to start meetings (as they do now) and then invite both Mac and PC users to participate.

Are you a Mac user who is interested in taking part in the beta testing? If so please take a look at this new blog post for further details: Mikogo Mac Beta Version Available Here

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you!

Recently we noticed a slight hurdle when using the Mikogo Skype Extra with Skype 4 Beta. Some people have received a message, “This plugin is not allowed”, when using Skype 4. Unfortunately there appears to be an issue when downloading the Mikogo Extra directly to the Skype 4 Beta Extras Manager.
If you have experienced the above message preventing the Mikogo Skype Extra, you will be happy to know that there is a solution.

For example if you have Skype 3.8 (for example version 3.8.0.154), downloaded the Mikogo Extra and then upgraded to a Skype 4 Beta, you will have the Extra in your Extras Manager, and it will work perfectly.

However if you have Skype 3.8 without the Mikogo Extra, then upgrade to Skype 4 beta, and later get the Mikogo Extra, you may receive the message: “This plugin is not allowed”.

In short, the Mikogo Skype Extra does in fact work normally via Skype 4 Beta. The solution can be found by upgrading from an official version of Skype 3.8 to Skype 4 Beta.

Solution – please follow these steps:
1. Install Skype 3.8 (for example, 3.8.0.154)
2. Download the Mikogo Skype Extra
3. Then upgrade from Skype 3.8 to Skype 4 Beta.

You will then be able to use the Mikogo Extra from the Beta version of Skype 4.

Once you have upgraded from Skype 3.8, already with the Mikogo Extra, to Skype 4 Beta, you can start meetings and send invitations to your Skype contacts.
