Let Participants Join from your Website: New Buttons for Windows and Mac Participants

Andrew – March 23, 2009

Last month we released several Join Meeting buttons for you to place on your blog or website, and allow your participants to join your meetings directly from your website. This was before the release of the Mac Beta version. Consequently we have made new buttons that you may place on your website for Mac participants to join your meetings without having to visit the Mikogo homepage.

We have also made a couple of new buttons for Windows participants. There are several buttons for Windows and Mac participants available below. We have provided the HTML code below each button.

Placing a Button on your website:
To place a button on your site, copy and paste the appropriate block of HTML code into your website. The button that you have chosen will appear on your site, and when a participant clicks on it they will open the Mikogo software for participants.
If you place a Windows button, they will open the Mikogo.exe file for Windows participants. If you place a button for Mac users on your site, when they click on it they will open the Mikogo.dmg for Mac participants.

To test out the buttons, feel free to click on any of the buttons below and you will see that the appropriate Mikogo participant software will open for either Windows or Mac computers, depending on which button you click on.

Please feel free to take your buttons of choice and place them on your website.

    I was just going to say how great Mikogo is. My family is out west in California and I’m in Memphis, TN. I was able to use your program to take remote control over their home computer and fix all the things they have been neglected and needing to be fixed. So thanks so much for a very simple, easy, and great program.

    @ Belay
    To participate, run the Mikogo.exe software by clicking on Join Meeting on the Mikogo homepage. Then enter the meeting ID from your meeting organizer. On the Video Tutorials page there is a 2 minute video on participating: Video Tutorials
    If you need more assistance, please post it on the Mikogo Forum.

    I recently added the “Join Meeting” buttons to our website. I am a little confused however. Once you install the application and return to the site to click the “Join Meeting” button, another download prompt appears. I understand that you can Join a meeting by simply opening the application from the desktop, but seeing how the buttons say “Join Meeting”, all i can do is download the program again. Once installed, shouldn’t the button automatically open the window for ID and user name to Join a meeting as apposed to a download? Any help would be much appreciated. This is a wonderful tool we would like to start using asap.

    Regards,
    Jim

    @Jim
    I think the reason why you are confused is because you are trying to join a meeting that you already started.

    To start meetings, download the Mikogo Organizer program (for PCs or for Macs). You can then start meetings by clicking on the M icon in your system tray. When you see the Mikogo Meeting Info window with the meeting ID, this means your meeting has started.
    Important: please do not click on “Join Meeting” to start meetings)

    Tell your participants to go to http://www.mikogo.com and click on Join Meeting. They will then download the participate software. When they see the Mikogo Meeting login window, they will enter the meeting ID. Then they will join your meeting and see your screen.

    The “Join Meeting” buttons are for participants to join your meeting. Not for you to start meetings. You can start meetings from your desktop using the software.

    How about some links that are created dynamically with a person’s name and meeting ID included in the querystring? This way we could generated a link dynamically for each participant and control the name they use, etc.. :) What do you think?

    @Dwight,
    Thanks for the suggestion and feedback. Some other users have come to us looking for a way to integrate the join meeting function into their website. This is something that may interest in you, and we offer it in our fee-based solution, BeamYourScreen: http://www.beamyourscreen.com/EN/product/featuresjs.aspx Check out “Session Login on your Website”.

    Hi Andrew, Jim raised a question here, that I would also like an answer for. We know that we can start a meeting from our own computer. I would like to be able to direct my clients to our website to click the “Join” button. However, it is counter-intuitive for the client to be prompted to download the program each time. Is there a way for the “Join” button to know if the client already has the required Mikogo software, then it will simply prompt for the meeting info. See Jim’s inquiry :http://www.mikogo.com/2009/03/23/join-meeting-buttons-new-mac/comment-page-1/#comment-255….Thanks – Caleb

    Hi Caleb,
    Thanks for your comment. At present, it is not possible to detect from a website if a user has installed/downloaded Mikogo before. Development is working on improvements in this area for future releases. Cheers
